چکیده

We present 5-GHz MERLIN radio images of the microquasar GRS 1915+105 during two separate outbursts in 2001 March and 2001 July, following the evolution of the jet components as they move outwards from the core of the system. Proper motions constrain the intrinsic jet speed to be > 0.57c, but the uncertainty in the source distance prevents an accurate determination of the jet speed. No deceleration is observed in the jet components out to an angular separation of ∼ 300 mas. Linear polarisation is observed in the approaching jet component, with a gradual rotation in position angle and a decreasing fractional polarisation with time. Our data lend support to the internal shock model whereby the jet velocity increases leading to internal shocks in the pre-existing outflow before the jet switches off. The compact nuclear jet is seen to re-establish itself within two days, and is visible as core emission at all epochs. The energetics of the source are calculated for the possible range of distances; a minimum power of 1–10 per cent L Edd is required to launch the jet.

MERLIN observations of relativistic ejections from GRS 1915 + 105

We present high resolution MERLIN radio images of multiple relativistic ejections from GRS 1915+105 in 1997 October / November. The observations were made at a time of complex radio behaviour, corresponding to multiple optically-thin outbursts and several days of rapid radio flux oscillations. This activity followed ∼ 20 days of a plateau state of inverted-spectrum radio emission and hard, quas...

The surroundings of the superluminal source GRS 1915 + 105

We have carried out radio studies of the surroundings of the superluminal microquasar GRS 1915+105. Our main goal was to understand the possible relation of GRS 1915+105 with two infrared/radio sources that appear symmetrically located with respect to GRS 1915+105 and aligned with the position angle of the relativistic ejecta. We have also studied a nearby supernova remnant to test if the event...

Connection between Accretion Disk and Superluminal Radio Jets and the Role of Radio Plateau State in Grs 1915+105

We investigate the association between the accretion disk during radio plateau state and the following superluminal relativistic radio jets with peak intensity varies from 200 mJy to 1000 mJy observed over a period of five years and present the evidences of direct accretion disc-jet connection in microquasar GRS 1915+105 . We have analysed RXTE PCA/HEXTE X-ray data and have found that the accre...

Variable circular polarisation associated with relativistic ejections from GRS 1915 + 105

We report the discovery of variable circularly polarised radio emission associated with relativistic ejections from GRS 1915+105, based on observations with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) and the Multi-Element Radio-Linked Interferometer Network (MERLIN). Following a radio flare in 2001 January, significant and variable circular polarisation, at a fractional level of 0.2–0.4%, was...

Disk−jet Connection in the Microquasar Grs 1915+105 and Ir and Radio Emission

We present evidence of a direct accretion disk − jet connection in the Galactic microquasar GRS 1915+105 based on our analysis of RXTE/PCA data with a “spike” in X-ray light curves. We find that the radio emission increases as the hardness ratio increases during the low hard state. We suggest that the “spike” which separates the dips with hard and soft spectra marks the beginning of the burst p...
